Religion vs Spirituality

I know have written about this topic but I saw this question posed on TV a month ago, and I had to ask myself the same question. Am I religious or spiritual? I also saw comments on both sides of the debate and was surprised on how many people went with spirituality.

My view on anything is that I want to learn it at my own pace or a pace that I can follow. Religion to me is the same. I hated going to "Sunday School" because I was forced to, not on my own. I hated it at that time and still did. My parents really didn't set the greatest example. My mom couldn't answer any of the questions I asked and my dad seemed not interested. I decided to look else where, other religions, that's when I figured out that they are all the same. They have "stories" that pit good versus evil, teach morals, and the usual. It's just a different road to reach the same destination. I hate how the religion card is used to control a situation or justifying a decision or if you don't follow my religion that "you are an idiot".

I like spirituality because there are no rules. You can believe in whatever you want. Spirituality to me is an a-la-carte; you can take a bit of every religion and make it your own. It's like you believe in a higher being but not necessarily "god" or if you like to meditate to clear your mind and not worry about religious consequences. Or what I believe in, karma. What goes around comes around except in my situation I have built up a lot of good karma, just waiting for it.

That's it for me. Hopefully will post soon.

Reflection....

Hi. I have been posting quite often because I have free time now but can't say the same later. I have already stated how busy I was during the first half of the year but I hope that it calms down for the rest of the year.

It's been a year since my mom was sick and in the hospital. All the stress and travel took a toll on everybody. It sucked, with the balancing between home and the apartment, school and work. It was huge bump in the road and we (my family) survived. Just looking back, I am glad she got the help that was needed and almost made full recovery. Looking back over the last year, I have grown as person; understanding that bleep happens and move on. Things are starting to fall into place and I'm much more calm than I was, but I still have anger issues that I need to work on. Another thing that I have noticed about myself is that I am not into sports as much as I used to. I mean, I still follow it but don't watch the games as much I used to. I have realized there are many other things to be worried about than that.

Just A couple more tidbits. Miley Cyrus is an attention whore, the stunts she's willing to pull off proves it. Heidi and Spencer from "the hills" are separated. Who didn't see this coming? Spencer wants to help the world and Heidi wants to be famous at any cost. Honestly, I think Spencer realized who she was and left her. I also believe Spencer wants to change the world without attention and Heidi needs attention thus the separation. I hope Spencer does help selflessly and Heidi's fame goes down in flames.

That's it for now. Bye.

Oil catastrophe....

I told you that I will be posting soon. So here I am, got topics in hand. Let's go.

This year has been very busy, including a lot of travel. Of course, you know my trips to India and Seattle. But there has been the trips where I went to see my cousin and the constant trips back and forth from home to my parents' place. On top of that, I am trying to keep in shape. I don't think I have been this skinny since maybe high school (talking about body fat%). The clothes I bought recently have become loose.

This oil disaster seems like it'll never end. It's been over a month and oil is still flowing into the gulf. I heard a story on the radio that this has happened before in 1979; somewhere in southwest part of the gulf except the well was only 160 odd feet down. The techniques that BP used were the same as the ones that was tried at that oil spill. Guess what? It didn't work for that oil spill either and that was at 160-170 ft deep. This is at a mile down, so, obviously, the experts knew that it was a long shot. The only was to stop it is to build two rigs to take pressure of the main one and that will take time. That's what they did for the 1979 one. Surprisingly, The gulf recovered in a short time, I hope that's the case here as well.

Should I boycott BP because of this mess? I say no and here's why. I think that BP took advantage of what it was given. They bent and broke rules but were allowed to by the government. I am not saying that BP is without blame, but am saying that it's not all their fault. . Should they pay for the clean up? Of course they should. They make billions in profit each quarter, so they should be able to pay for his. At the end of the day, would I use BP to purchase gas? This situation won't affect my decision either way. The reason I don't use BP or their companies is because they are expensive.

That's it for now. Bye.

Been busy...

Sorry, about the lack of posts this year. It's been a very busy year, with traveling and weddings. I am completely exhausted but the travels have given me many things to talk about. So I will be posting a bit more often.

My family (including my cousin and his wife) and I went to visit the beautiful northwest. I Had never been there, so, now I can add two more states to the list: Washington and Oregon. Our flight going to Seattle was delayed 90 minutes due to weather, but my cousin's flight was canceled. We got in to Seattle late, they got in late the next day. Since my cousin wasn't there we didn't do much, we saw some falls and went shopping for food. The first day we were all together we went on a tour of downtown Seattle. We saw the Space needle(outside), EMP, Pikes market, the first Starbucks, Fremont Troll, "Sleepless in Seattle" boat and the stadiums. The second day, we tried to visit Mt. St. Helen's but the weather was bad so we only got half way up. Later, we went to Portland to see the rose gardens and went back to the hotel. The last day we went back downtown but went up the Space Needle, went to Pikes market and spent much more time than the tour allowed us but couldn't go to the beach due to weather. The weather was crappy throughout except the day we went back.

Okay, that's it for now. Will try to post again soon.
